Three Vietnamese Nationals were arrested on suspicion of breaking into a vacant house in Nakayama Town to steal valuables. Police have now announced that the three were responsible for a total of 90 crimes across five prefectures.

According to police, from around March to late July, the three repeatedly broke into vacant houses and residential homes in suburban areas by smashing windows. These incidents occurred not only in Yamagata but also in Fukushima, Gunma, Nagano, and Niigata.

The total number of cases reached 90, with the suspects allegedly stealing approximately 720,000 yen in cash and around 38 pieces of jewelry and other precious metals.

The three had entered Japan as technical intern trainees. Despite not having driver’s licenses, they used a second-hand car purchased through social media to move between vacant houses. They divided their roles between carrying out the thefts and keeping watch.

During questioning, the suspects admitted to the allegations, stating that they committed the crimes because they wanted money for living expenses and entertainment.
