Kenji Haga, a TV personality, was arrested by police for allegedly attempting to avoid foreclosure on his property by falsely registering the transfer of ownership to a company of which he is the representative director. The police have not disclosed the admission or denial as it would hinder the investigation.

Seven people were arrested, including Kenji Haga, 63, a TV personality, real name Mikio Toma; Takeshi Matsuyama, 69, an executive of the Kodokai, the core organization of the designated Yamaguchigumi gang; and Fumio Nozaki, 57, a vice-president of the Japan Federation of Judicial Scrivener Associations.

According to the police, they are suspected of forcing the registration of a building and land owned by Haga in Okinawa Prefecture, to a company of which he is the representative director, in order to evade the seizure of approximately 400 million yen in compensation for the victims of a fraud case he committed in the past.

Haga was arrested by Aichi Prefectural Police investigators on suspicion of obstruction of compulsory execution and misrepresentation of the original electromagnetic notarial deed on a street in Chatan, Okinawa, and was transferred by plane to Chubu Airport, Aichi Prefecture, on the evening of September 25.

The police are investigating the details, including their respective roles.

Four years ago, Haga was also sentenced to a year and two months in prison for concealing assets to compensate victims of another fraud case, for which he was jailed, after which he resumed his TV personality activities.
