Three Vietnamese nationals have been arrested in Hitachiomiya City, Ibaraki Prefecture, for breaking into a home, assaulting a 90-year-old woman by tying her hands and feet, and stealing cash.
Le Dinh Duy (30) and two others are suspected of entering the woman’s residence in June while she was sleeping, threatening her by saying, “Stay quiet, you jerk,” and binding her hands and feet with adhesive tape, covering her mouth, and stealing approximately 3,000 yen in cash.
According to the police, the three suspects were acquaintances. One of them was arrested in August for an unrelated incident and hinted at involvement in this case, leading investigators to identify the other two.
The police have not disclosed whether the three suspects have admitted to the charges, citing concerns about the investigation.
