Indonesian National Arrested for Beating Woman and Stealing Her Wallet

A 28-year-old man of Indonesian Nationality was swiftly arrested on July 16 for beating and trampling an unacquainted woman on a street in Sawara Ward, Fukuoka, injuring her and taking her wallet.

The suspect, Rohmat Hidayat, 28, an Idonesian National of unknown residence and occupation, was arrested on suspicion of robbery and assault.

According to the police, shortly after 9 P.M. on July 15, on a street in Sawara Ward, Fukuoka City, the suspect allegedly hit a 25-year-old woman walking on the street from behind on the neck, and hitting her multiple times in the face when she turned around, causing her to fall over, and then assaulted and injured her by stomping on her stomach and covering her mouth, taking her wallet and pouch consisting of 600 yen.

The woman suffered a swollen cheek and a cut lip.

Police officers responding to the call found the suspect with similar characteristics on a street approximately one kilometer away at around 10 P.M. When questioned, he had a wallet believed to belong to the victim, which led to his swift arrest at around 5 A.M. on July 16.

He has admitted to the charges.

According to the residence card he had, the suspect is a technical intern.
