A Pakistani National, aged 31, was re-arrested in Tokyo for falsely declaring exports to Yokohama Customs. The claim was initially for four used Toyota luxury minivans, but in fact, attempted to export four stolen Alphards worth approximately 32 million yen.

According to the police, the unemployed man denied the allegations, stating, “I had nothing to do with the false export declaration.”

The four vehicles had been stolen in Aichi Prefecture between June and July of the same year. Plates bearing falsified vehicle identification numbers had been welded onto them. The customs broker had submitted documentation showing the process of loading the declared vehicles into containers. On August 1 of that year, a customs inspection revealed discrepancies between the declaration and the actual vehicles.

According to investigators, both suspects are originally from Pakistan and became acquainted through a third party. The unemployed man had previously been arrested by the prefectural police in March this year for attempting to illegally export another stolen vehicle to Thailand, also in violation of the Customs Act.
