A 38-year-old American man has been arrested for smuggling approximately 1.5 kilograms of cocaine into an Airbnb in Azumino, Nagano.
Approximately 1.5 kilograms of powdered cocaine, with a street value of 37 million Yen, was discovered during customs inspection at Narita Airport.
The American man is suspected of conspiring with associates to smuggle cocaine-laced parcels out of Peru by post in September last year.
It was discovered that the man who was the recipient had left the country, but he returned to Japan again in late September this year and was arrested in Kagawa Prefecture.
The man is denying the allegations, stating that he “did not believe it was illegal”.
