A 32-year-old Chinese National, You Suilin, was driving without a license and caused an accident that injured an innocent Japanese woman. You Suilin proceeded to flee the scene, only to end up arrested by the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department’s Ueno Station.

He admitted to the charges, saying, “I left without reporting it because my unlicensed driving would be exposed.”

According to the arrest, at around 9:45 p.m. on March 8, while driving a passenger car without a license, You ignored a stop sign at an unmarked intersection in Ueno, Taito Ward, and proceeded straight, colliding with a passenger car coming from the right. The woman (53) driving the other car suffered a cervical sprain. He fled the scene without providing aid or taking any necessary steps.

According to Ueno Police, You obtained a Japanese driver’s license in October of 2021, but had committed four traffic violations in Tokyo, such as speeding and failure to drive safely. Because he failed to appear at the police station or attend the required driving courses, his license was revoked in October of 2023.
