Former Pro Baseball Player Arrested for Stealing 600 Yen

On July 17, Kanagawa Prefectural Police announced the arrest of a part-time high school teacher, Kazuhiro Koyama, 28, on suspicion of breaking into a restaurant where he used to work part-time and stealing approximately 600 Yen. The suspect has admitted to the charges.

Koyama made it to the top eight of the high-school baseball tournament in the summer of 2013. The following year, he joined Fukuoka Softbank Hawks as a first-round draft pick, where he played for four years.

Between around 3 AM and 3 PM on March 22, the suspect entered a restaurant in Yokohama during after hours, and stole approximately 600 Yen from the cash register.

According to the police, he worked part-time at the restaurant until March of last year, and had been a part-time teacher at a high school in Chiba since April this year. The shop reported the damage and his involvement emerged from the investigation of the security camera footage.
