Sexual harass mayor

Kazuo Okazaki, 76, who resigned as mayor of Ikeda Town, Gifu Prefecture, in April this year after a third-party committee found that he had sexually harassed 15 staff members, including trying to kiss them, touching their buttocks and hugging them, was arrested on suspicion of violating the Official Bid-Rigging Prevention Law and obstructing public contract-related auction bidding.

Two months after resigning, Kazuo Okazaki, 76, former mayor of Ikeda Town, Gifu, was arrested on June 11 on suspicion of official bid-rigging in which he was involved when he was mayor.

According to the police, in July of last year, Okazaki is suspected of having violated the Official Garrison Prevention Act by leaking a name of a confidential bidder to at least one contractor in connection with a competitive contender for electrical work to install air-conditioning systems at a town-run nursery school.

The police raided the town hall at around 5:30 pm on Jun 11. They haven’t revealed the suspect’s identity as it would hinder the investigation.

Okazaki resigned in April this year, when he was in the middle of his sixth term, and a mayoral election was just held on 9th of this month.
