Zhang Yanqiang (37), a Chinese national and president of a metal recycling company, has been arrested on suspicion of purchasing stolen copper wire cables.
Zhang is suspected of knowingly buying approximately 3,900 meters of copper wire cables in May last year, which had been stolen by a Cambodian theft group from a solar power plant in Gunma Prefecture.
Zhang has denied the allegations, stating, “I did not purchase anything.”
