Aya Uchida, a 22-year-old manager of a concept café, was arrested for allowing her staff to engage in customer service without proper permits. The café, “Tokyo-ICE” in Kabukicho, operated under the concept of an “ice castle,” with some employees as young as 17 years old.
Customers earned points with every 1,000 yen spent, which would increase their rank, starting from “Wanderer,” then progressing to “Noble” and “King,” ultimately reaching the title of “Ice God” after spending 5 million yen. The top reward was a full-day date with their favorite staff member.
The café, which opened in February 2024, reportedly earned around 50 million yen in its eight months of operation. Uchida has admitted to the charges during the police investigation.
