According to the Metropolitan Police Department, Kawasaki Mohammad Ali is suspected of conspiring with accomplices in June last year to steal a Toyota Alphard, worth approximately 3.61 million yen, from a parking lot in Saitama City.

Kawasaki is thought to have acted as a broker, connecting a car dealership that handles used car transactions, called a “yard,” with a theft group of which eight members have already been indicted. However, during the investigation, he reportedly claimed, “I have never stolen cars directly.”

The group is suspected to be involved in 84 car theft cases between 2022 and last year across one metropolis and two prefectures, with total damages estimated at approximately 370 million yen.
