On the 17th, Philippine immigration authorities announced the detention of a Japanese man wanted by a Japanese court on suspicion of fraud and other charges.

According to the authorities, the detained individual is identified as Tomoya Kudo, a Japanese national.

In 2022, Kudo allegedly broke into the office of his former employer, stole bank books, and illegally withdrew 7.876 million yen from the company’s accounts. Consequently, a Japanese court in Tokyo issued an arrest warrant for him on charges of fraud and theft.

Kudo had fled to the Philippines and was apprehended when he attempted to extend his tourist visa at an immigration office in Manila.

He is expected to be deported back to Japan shortly.
