A 42-year-old man from Kurume City was arrested on suspicion of smuggling approximately 200 MDMA tablets from Germany. The suspect, identified as Tatsuya Takeuchi, a self-proclaimed company executive from Kurume City, was arrested on suspicion of violating the Narcotics Control Act and other related offenses.
According to the police, Takeuchi is suspected of conspiring with an unknown individual to smuggle 197 MDMA tablets—worth approximately 1.18 million yen—by disguising them as international mail from Germany.
Takeuchi had allegedly arranged for the MDMA through a contact he met on social media and had the package sent to an apartment in Chuo Ward, Fukuoka City, which he used as his workplace.
During questioning, Takeuchi admitted to the charges, and police are continuing to investigate the sender of the MDMA and other related details.
