Police have arrested a man on suspicion of murder after the body of a 17-year-old girl was found dead in a hotel in Minami, Osaka, last month. The man had disappeared after entering the hotel room with the victim.
The suspect, Shunsuke Fukui, 30, an unemployed person with no fixed address, was arrested on suspicion of strangling a 17-year-old girl to death in a hotel room in Osaka on September 28.
The door to the hotel room was locked, but the window was not, and police were tracking down a man who had disappeared after entering the room with the girl on the evening of the incident.
Police identified the suspect Fukui from security camera footage and other sources, and arrested him when he emerged from a manga cafe in Yokohama on October 9.
The suspect told investigators that he strangled her with both hands and killed her, and that he escaped through a hotel window after the crime.
According to the police, the girl and the suspect had been in contact via social media and had met for the first time on the day of the incident. Police are investigating the circumstances of the incident and the motive for the crime in detail.
