Vietnamese Nationals Shoplifting From Japan

1

Shoplifting incidents involving foreign groups continue to occur frequently in Japan. A common pattern involves ringleaders guiding operatives to target specific stores that are easy to steal from, then sending them to Japan to steal large quantities of goods. Last year saw an increase in foreign individuals arrested for shoplifting for the first time in eight years. Experts emphasize the need to enhance preventative measures, such as employee training.

One Vietnamese member of a group repeatedly shoplifting from Uniqlo stores in Osaka reportedly told the Osaka Prefectural Police, “Stores in Japan are easy to shoplift from, and I did it multiple times.”
